As a result of the workshops already held, the proposal MÍDIA MAGIA - Pre-cinemas; optical toys workshop - presented some of these resized optical toys next to the workshop that took place in the "play project", SESC Piracicaba, 2019. These toys were in sizes that allowed the public to interact. For example; the viewer can enter the Darkroom and experience the physical effect that this device provides; see the reflection inside the camera of the image of the object immediately outside the camera. The interactor played, too, with the giant thaumatrope; rotating the disks horizontally and viewing the images of drawings made by them, merging into each other and finally you can
check with the other participants, large-format animations mirrored in the Praxinoscope.

“MÍDIA MAGIA - Pre-cinemas:
optical toys workshop ”
these toys emerged in the early 19th century as the first resources to give the impression of moving images. They explored the functioning of the human eye and used simple visual effects to transform illustrations into animations. In this workshop, children create the thaumatrope, the Flipbook and the Fenaquistocópio, understanding the functioning of the gaze together with the light as a great participant in the construction of image movements. Workshop held in June 2017 at SESC Belenzinho / SP.

STOP MOTION or "frame-by-frame animation" is a technique in which we create videos or movies from photo overlays. Each frame changes the position of objects when they are brought together and projected and or edited one after the other if there is an illusion that the objects are moving, this phenomenon is called "retinal persistence". Workshop held in January 2017 at SESC São José dos campos / SP.

Electronic Brain was carried out by Cássia Hosni, Denise Agassi, Eduardo Salvino and Emanuel Cesar, teachers, researchers and artists with the SESC Consolação team, in the 1st semester of 2017. The project contained four modules: MEMORIES and INTERFACE; NETWORK COLLABORATOR and PLACE / LOCATION; MEDIA MAGIC and FABULATIONS. Electronic Brain was intended
to the public of the 3rd Age and made it possible, in addition to com_

“MÍDIA MAGIA - Pre-cinemas:
optical toys workshop ”
The term Pre-cinema designates the techniques invented to animate or project the images, prior to the projection of the first Lumiere brothers film, in 1895, before the invention of cinema. These techniques are known as: Shadow Theater, Camera Obscura, Optical Object, Magic Book, Magic Lantern, Panorama, Kinetic Object, Phantasmagoria, Optical Theater, Chronophotography, among others. At the MÍDIA MAGIA workshop, with guidance from Denise Agassi and Eduardo Salvino, animations were worked out that comprise a sequence of pictures with small interferences, giving the impression of movement in the image. For this, optical and kinetic objects, known as Thaumatrope, Flipbook, Phenaquistiscope, and Zootrope were built. These first experiments become toys that make it possible to understand the moving image.
