Eduardo Salvino's hearing devices feature testimonials recorded with the
public that attends the venue where the "Wired Telephone" installation is set up.
A metalinguistic and collaborative approach, since it refers back to the same
public that gets in touch with them. For the Encontro Internacional
Públicos da Cultura [Publics of Culture International Meeting],
testimonials about the concept of "public" are recorded with
the participants and later presented. Those testimonials are
combined and mixed with sounds from several sources,
and layers of information gain new statuses.
The co-authors and the general public could
listen to the sounds that resulted from
the process in the installation.
Note: the images of WIRED TELEPHONE are from its latest installation.

Wired phones, by Eduardo Salvino, subvert current communications technology. They point in the opposite direction of the social atomization of wireless devices, that is, without links, without physical connections between one and the other. Salvino wants to metaphorically explain these links, to propose more visible and tangible connections between people. The recorded testimonies we hear refer to a metalinguistic action, refer to the same audience that will contact it. The voices are of people who attend SESC-Pompeia, in the condition of public or official of the place, in the most diverse activities. Links, anyway. Yarns of interpersonal relationships and of people with the institution. Salvino's installation can function effectively both in sociological and political commentary and visually, through the intelligent use of the color and balance of suspended forms.
